Day 1. Petchfield Farm to Leintwardine

Cycle to Leintwardine, following the River Teme on an idyllic lane. You also have a choice of routes to  explore the Teme valley; Cycle to Hopton Castle or upstream to Knighton and the Offa's Dyke.  Total 5 - 28 miles (8 - 45km) 

 

Day 2. Leintwardine to Hay on Wye

Cycle through the glorious countryside of North Herefordshire to cross the River Lugg at Presteigne which marks the border with  Wales. Presteigne is home to the unique Judges Lodging museum. From Presteigne, head to the market town of Kington to visit the spectacular Hergest Croft Gardens. Next cycle over Brilley Mountain and down to the River Wye. Hay on Wye is a lovely town, famed for its bookshops, castle and literary festival. Total 32 miles (53 km). 

 

Day 3. Circular tour from Hay to Llangorse Lake

Lots to do at Hay, Cycle to Llangorse Lake, visit Treberfydd walled garden, go canoeing down the Wye or take the time to explore Hay and all those bookshops. Total Mileage 28- 32 miles. (45-52km)

 

Day 4. Hay on Wye to Petchfield Farm

An easy ride through the Black and White villages of North Herefordshire. Unique half-timbered architecture in all the villages – including medieval dovecots at Eardisland and Luntley. Two grand National Trust houses to visit; Croft Castle and Berrington Hall. Finishing any time in the afternoon, back at Petchfield Farm. Total 34  miles (55 km)

The Lion Hotel. A lovely Victorian fishing hotel on the banks of the River Teme. Excellent restaurant, local produce, local beer and cider. Riverside garden

 

The Swan at Hay.  Hay’s principal coaching inn - dating from 1821.  Full of character, from the original Georgian windows overlooking the garden to the cobbled stable block, with the original horses' name places still intact. Lovely garden.

 

The Firs Guesthouse, modern house with beautiful garden and outstanding welcome in a quiet area of Hay on Wye.  Great breakfasts in the conservatory.
