Day 1. Petchfield Farm to Clun

A wonderful route along idyllic valley lanes past a string of picturesque villages, gradually leading you up through a cleft in the hills. Plenty of inns & teashops, on your route, including one in the historic village of Brampton Bryan with its grand yew hedge & castle. Clun is a charming border village, with a castle, 2 teashops and two pubs that provide excellent food.  Total 20 miles (32 km)

 

Day 2. Explore Clun and the Clun Valley

Take your time to explore Clun, with its packhorse bridge, museum and gardens at the historic almshouses. Then choose a cycle ride to the tiny hamlet of Newcastle on Clun, and Offa’s Dyke, or Anchor and the Black Mountain or visit the border market town of Bishop's Castle, by following the ancient route of Offa's Dyke and the Kerry Ridgeway.  Or you can spend the day relaxing by the river, feeding the ducks or scaling the castle. And if you want a rest from cycling, Clun is a great walking centre.  Choice of rides 10 - 20 miles.

 

Day 3. Clun to Petchfield Farm

Cycle down the Clun valley & water meadows. Visit the ruined Hopton Castle and stop for coffee at Hopton Heath. Or you can lunch in the roman village of Leintwardine with its riverside pub, and the unique Sun Inn Parlour pub – unchanged for a 100 years. Finishing any time in the afternoon, back at Petchfield Farm.  Total 18 miles (29 km)

Clun Farm. A sixteenth century farm, right in the middle of Clun.  This 500 year old farmhouse has lots of beams, inglenook fires, cosy guest lounge & sunny garden. Quiet location.

 

White Horse Inn. Frendly, local inn, specialising in excellent local food with its own small brewery. Rooms are above the pub, so can be noisy on Friday and Saturday night.
